My story.

Hi, I'm Annie and here is my Elm Tree Botanicals journey so far.

In 2018 I spent a fascinating day with my daughter learning about the craft of candle making. It ignited a passion for creating my own fragrances and making gifts for family and friends.  

My full-time employment fell victim to the pandemic. With time on my hands I started experimenting and developing more scents, inspired by the beautiful local surroundings of the Yorkshire Dales and my passion for seeking out new and exotic fragrances.

With my candles and diffusers selling well at local gift fairs and markets, I decided to team up with a handful of friendly local suppliers in the region who are just as passionate about promoting natural artisan products.

Having developed a larger range of fragrances, it seemed natural to share my products to a wider audience. So I hope you enjoy browsing this site and would welcome any feedback or questions about the products. 

I'd like to say a huge thank you to my family, friends, neighbours and local businesses who have been so supportive towards me and my fragrance journey so far. 

 

What's in a name?

ELM TREE
I live on Elm Tree Square in the Dales village of Embsay. The square and the local Elm Tree Inn take their names from a tree that has stood there for many years. It was replaced in the late 20th century because of Dutch Elm Disease. A new replacement was planted in 2007.

BOTANICALS
All my fragrances are inspired by plants and flowers - with local scents such as Rose, Jasmine and Honeysuckle combining with more exotic personal favourites including Lemongrass, Tonka Bean and Oud. My branding has been designed to reflect a botanical theme with each fragrance given its own individual look.

For visitors to Yorkshire, Elm Tree Botanicals can be found at the following locations:

ALL PLANTS NORTH - A beautifully stocked independent garden nursery and gift shop located in the Dales village of Cracoe, just outside of Skipton.

BOGGLE HOLE - Andrew & Mel Turner own two shops, one in Barkers Arcade in Northallerton and the other in the Victoria Shopping Centre, Harrogate. Both are packed, showcasing as many Yorkshire makers, crafters, artists, and designers as they can fit in!

THE ENGLISH ART CO. - The English Art Co. creates and sells original art, prints, gifts and homewares based at Art Roundhay Park in Leeds.

GINGERBUGS & Co - A boutique gift shop nestled in Ingleton, selling high quality, beautifully made items by local Dales artists and makers.

RIVERBANK BURNSALL - A delightful cafe overlooking the River Wharfe in Burnsall. Ideal for coffee, cake, wood-fired pizzas and candles to take home as a Dales memento!

SEB & Co - Situated in the heart of Grassington, (Tv's Darrowby in All Creatures Great & Small), this independent, family run gift shop is thoughtfully curated with lovely art, books and gifts. 

SETTLE GLASS STUDIO AND GALLERY - Set in the vaults beneath Settle Town Hall, Angela Henderson runs her glass making studio and gallery, selling crafts and gifts from local makers. 

WONDERFULLY MADE - A busy gift shop and craft shop situated in the market town of Todmorden in the Upper Calder Valley.
